a healthy sense of worth

25 Aug

Went with my mom to the Legaspi Village Market last Sunday and bought myself 3 cacti friends for my balcony. A cruel turn of events however saw one of their flowers snapping off while they were being unloaded from the car : (

On a happier note, my brother brought home some delicious pichi-pichi from school:

And today for lunch we went over to Seryna next to Little Tokyo which still has the best Chirashi and Sukiyaki imo.

Also it looks like I will be heading to Israel in time for my birthday in October !

The Chrysanthemum and the Sword

25 Aug

How fucking amazing was the last Mad Men? I could totally get behind it if AMC decided to turn Sterling-Cooper-Draper-Pryce into some sort of high stakes espionage agency.

Spot the subtext: Coke, Orange Soda, Coke. Oh, Petey.

The motherfuckin’ A-Team:

The Agony and The Ecstasy.

Classic episode is classic.

Mellow Yellow

20 Aug

Every morning I wake up and there is a little fruit shake waiting for me in the fridge.

Today I tasted mangoes, pineapples, bananas, grapes and guava juice .

Went out Friday night to Attica with Marga, Franniepanty and Ralph Macchio

Managed to wake up surprisingly early the next morning and got lenses fitted for my new specs, satisfied my buko juice craving, and stumbled upon this awesomely packaged soap called ‘Bee & Flower’ at a health food store:

For mysterious reasons it smells exactly like the Heaven & Earth Iced Jasmine Green Tea in Singapore!

Finally, I’m quite sure we overdid it last night with my mom’s family at this all you can eat Yakiniku place

Feeling sick as shit today and finding myself growing increasingly delirious

Midas is King

Good morning.

Favorite breakfast habit: Genmaicha and Jasmine leaves

master of disguises

Here is a happy coincidence: the smaller diamond cut acrylic ring was a gift from my boyfriend from the MOCA in LA, and the bigger translucent one was from a boardgame called (embarrassingly enough) Pretty Pretty Princess that I used to play with my cousins when I was maybe 6. Miraculously I’ve never found it in my heart to part with it.

I think it’s a funny reflection of how 17 years on, my taste in certain things remains the same.

SALA

10 Aug

Had a lazy ole Sunday brunch over at Sala Bistro in Greenbelt 5 with my mom and brother.

The brunch menu lets you choose dishes for two courses; one of them savoury and one of them sweet.

We all ended up picking the same savoury dish which is super typical of us.

minute steak with tomato chutney and onion rings on sourdough

chocolate croissant with vanilla ice cream (mom’s)

ricotta and banana pancakes with maple syrup: the honest to goodness highlight of this meal

I wish I hadn’t been so full by the time the pancakes arrived. These were so legit I’d have eaten them on their own.

Mushaboom Mushaboom

10 Aug

Spent my last week in Singapore packing up my things, saying goodbye to familiar faces and eating lots of food.

Decided to pass by The Little Dröm Store on Ann Siang Hill one more time. Just because.

Rhino ring, ho!

We also happened by BookactuallyPolymath & Crust

Uhhhh, somewhere along the way this happened too:

Finally, on the night before I left Chuck had an exhibit with two of his friends at the Night and Day Gallery.

Needless to say, it made me very sad to leave.
